Queen’s Birthday Honour for Newell Johnson

Inaugural President for the Australasian Council of Dental Schools

It is with great pleasure that ACODS would like to advise that Professor Newell Johnson the Inaugural President for the Australasian Council of Dental Schools has recently been honoured with an award in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

He has been appointed a Companion in the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) for his services to oral medicine and to public health internationally.

Newell had informed us that he is delighted to receive this award, particularly to have an award in this Order which has a focus on international service. He hopes that it will be seen not only as a recognition of the importance of the specialties of oral medicine and oral pathology, but a compliment to the many colleagues in many countries with whom he has had the privilege of working with over the years in attempts to understand – and prevent – oral and general diseases.

Newell stated that it has been his pleasure and privilege to have had the opportunity of contributing to ACODS and to dental education in ANZ.

Congratulations!

Past President 2010-2014
